aside.

A quiet place
to think out loud.

A private, voice-first journal. Speak or type your day — quiet reflections gently surface what stood out, without ever rewriting your words.

A few questions

Do I need an account?

No. Aside works entirely without sign-in — everything lives on your device.

Where is my journal stored?

Locally on your device, in Aside's own storage. It isn't uploaded anywhere by default.

Can I get my journal out of the app?

Yes — Settings → Data → Export Journal produces a .zip with your entries as Markdown plus every photo you've attached.

Does Aside work without an internet connection?

Recording, typing, editing, tagging, and browsing all work fully offline. Reflections need a connection, since they're generated through a cloud request.

What happens if I turn Reflections off?

No new daily or weekly reflections are generated. Anything already generated stays until you delete it yourself.

Does Aside back up to iCloud?

Not yet — cross-device sync and backup are on the roadmap but not built.

Is my journal searchable?

Yes — the search icon on the Journal screen searches both entry text and tags.
